Ask any grower in southeast PA about 2018 and the answer is sure to be the same: this season was a challenge. From the late-March snowstorms to Summer’s record-breaking rains, the weather put up one stumbling block after the next. We struggled to maintain healthy crops and high spirits as our fields succumbed to the wetness.
With that said, 2018 wasn’t a total bust! We had the good fortune of working all season with Eitan, whose work ethic, good nature, and mouth beats kept things moving along. (Make sure to wish him a “Happy Birthday” on Sunday!) We built our fig tunnel, harvested thousands of pints of cherry tomatoes, savored some delicious watermelons, and discovered some new favorite varieties. This season was a learning experience, albeit one with a few too many lessons.
As we approach the time of year for giving thanks, all of you are at the forefront of our thoughts. I can’t tell you how many times your kind words or smiling faces turned our days around. This job can be a tough one, but it is also tremendously rewarding. Thank you, as always but even moreso, for your generous support and for giving us the inspiration to do what we do.
